Columbia Gas, Global Energy Partners begin project in Marion OH
Columbia Gas and its contractor, Global Energy Partners, is beginning a relocation project in Marion.
Crews are installing about 2,300 feet of pipe serving roughly 40 properties along the section of Girard Avenue between West Columbia Street to Bellefontaine Avenue in Marion. The project is necessary to clear conflict with gas infrastructure ahead of a city sewer project.
Crews will begin by installing the main line and then proceed to install service lines for individual properties. Some gas meters may be relocated outside.
The new plastic pipe has several benefits, including enhanced safety features and the ability to bend to the earth’s contour while expanding and contracting with shifting temperatures, according to a release from Columbia Gas. Once installed, the modernized system will last longer and reduce the amount of future maintenance required for upkeep.
The project requires only a short interruption to natural gas service. Global Energy Partners personnel will contact customers to schedule the brief shutoff/relight appointment and meter relocation, if necessary.
Employees and contractors will carry identification cards with names and photographs.
There is no additional cost to customers and Columbia Gas will restore impacted property. Work is expected to last about two months.
